Housing Assistant Night Cover
Location: Rush House, Diss, IP22 3LF
Hours: 42 hours per week
Contract: Fixed Term Contract until August 2020 (maternity cover)
Salary: £18,506 pro rata per annum

Notting Hill Genesis Housing are actively recruiting for a Housing Assistant Night Cover to join our Supported Living Services located at our Rush House scheme in Diss.

This is an exciting time to join Notting Hill Genesis Housing as we are recruiting to several jobs in the Norfolk area. Located at our Rush House scheme, the Housing Assistant Night Cover Worker will be responsible for the safety and wellbeing of our customers and security of our scheme at night. The scheme supports single homeless people who may have experienced drug, alcohol, substance misuse problems, and/or have varying support needs.

We are looking for enthusiastic, empathetic, reliable, energetic, flexible, creative and proactive people. The ideal candidate will have excellent people, planning and organisational skills and be able to work under pressure. You will also need to be flexible, highly motivated and be committed to tackling inequality.

The aim of our services is to ensure our customers achieve their goals and aspirations through the support, encouragement and guidance of our staff. The schemes are accommodation based environments that support single homeless people who may have experienced drug, alcohol, substance misuse problems, and/or have varying support needs. A successful outcome is achieved when our customers can move on to more suitable long-term accommodation, appropriate to their needs.

You'll be a true team player responsible for creating and maintaining a safe and secure environment for all individuals in your service, using your own initiative to ensure appropriate responses to any issues. In this role you will assist in maintaining an agreed standard of cleanliness across the service, undertake regular routine inspections of the premises to check safety and security of the premises and customers in line with the requirements of the service. You'll naturally be able to build good relationships with customers and their families in a receptive and informative manner, at a pace and level consistent with their abilities preference and beliefs.

We trust you'll have a flexible attitude and be willing to undertake any task your customer, manager or other senior managers reasonably ask of you taking into account your role and location. To be successful in this role, you'll be able to work in an environment where you have to respond to crisis situations as well as using your initiative to solve problems. We'll ask you to report appropriately and in a timely manner to managers.

Although previous supported housing experience would be suitable for this role, we are also looking for inspirational individuals who will seize the potential of making a difference in people's lives. We want to find motivational individual's that have a genuine interest working with vulnerable people and delivering a person-centred service.

This role will be offered as a fixed term contract covering maternity cover. Standard shifts are 12 hours per night. The shifts will be 1800 - 0600. Please note that this role will require lone working throughout the night.
